Long Beach Bike Advocacy Meeting
Event Details: May 23, 2013, 6:00Pm – 8:00pm
Location: TBD, Long Beach, CA
Description of event: Long Beach is past due for developing an official Bike Advocacy organization. I’ve been talking with the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (LACBC) to find out what needs to happen to create a Long Beach chapter with them or we can partner with another nonprofit or even create our own independent organization. I believe our amazing city is more than ready to make this happen now. And why not kick-off our 1st meeting to discuss the needs of our city during National Bike Month?
We’re looking for people interested in bikes, mobility, safety, health, environment, communities, outreach, grant writing, policies, programs, etc. Basically, if you have any interest connected to biking in Long Beach, we want you to be apart of the team that helps us get organized and officially representing Long Beach’s amazing & diverse bike culture.
May 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm looks good for our 1st meeting. It’s after Bike Week, before the weekend and after work. I hope this time works for you and that you can make it because we need you.
Are you in? I hope so.
My initial thought is that we want to include people who live and/or work in Long Beach.
Thanks a bunch and I’m excited about the future of our bike-friendly city!
***Please RSVP so I can gauge the level of interest & determine the size of a meeting location and please share with your network of people who may be interested.***
